Look at the Big Boy!

He wanted to be big like his brother Steven. He climbed up on Daddy's lap and sat still while Daddy dressed him.

Tanner at 9 months old

*He can pick things up with his pointer finger and thumb (pincer grasp)
*He can stand up, alone, for a few seconds.
*He has been crawling for months now.
*His vocabulary consits of Mama, Dada, Baba and Numnum.
*He knows that Baba means bottle, even without seeing the bottle.
*He loves to play upstairs in his big brother's room
*His big brother loves to have Tanner up in his room.
*He can climb a full flight of stairs without making a peep. (sneaky dood)
*He just got his first hair cut on July 17th 2007. A buzz cut.
*He knows that I'm leaving when I drop him off at the babysitters (and does not like that I'm leaving).
*His doctor says that he is advanced to about a 10 or 11 month olds abilities.
*He is still 18lbs.
*His favorite song is "There aint no bugs on me."
*His favorite cartoon is Hip Hop Harry
*His favorite toy is a tie between a spoon and a green ball with rubber stringy things
*He loves his pacifier now.

Things I want to remember about Tanner at 7 months.

*His baby talk: Dada, Mama, Baba

*My favorite sound he makes is his gurgly sound. It was his first real happy baby sound.

*How he will bite things and hold them in his mouth without holding them with his hand.

*How he thinks he's so big when he crawls around.

*How he is a human vacuum cleaner- he will find the last piece of dirt on the ground and suck it down his throat, if you dont catch it first.

*How he perks up everytime he hears a commercial for the cartoon "Stanley".

*His big fat slobbery kisses.

Tanner said DADA for the first time at the Babysitters today. He rolled over about 3 weeks ago. He's too big already

Things I want to remember about Tanner at 1 & 1/2 months old:

He smiles right before he falls asleep.
The way he laughs when he's dreaming.
He has to sleep on his side. If he wakes up because he's on his back, he'll fall back asleep if I roll him on his side.
His Mommy Sounds Bear knocks him out.
He loves his blanket Jodie got him.
He loves his Jodie.
The way he holds his head up, mouth open wide when I put him on my chest after feeding him. He loves to just look around at everything.
He can fit into 3-6 month clothes at 6 weeks old.
If he can get his thumb in his mouth, he prefers that rather than a pacifier.
He still hasnt got the hang of a pacifier.
He only wakes up one time a night now.

It's official! Today is the first day that I've felt like a mommy and I'm loving it. After seeing Tanner really smile last night, I was so excited. I've watched that video over and over already.

And today after his bath he is just laying on my chest relaxing w/ his eyes open. It made me realize that I'm his momma and he's going to need me to hold him when he's sad or hurt. I'm the only one he can call momma. I love my little man so much!

Tanner is almost 4 weeks. Yesterday his umbilical cord fell off and he also smiled a real smile for the first time. He's getting so big. I love holding him on my chest when he's awake and alert. He just stares up at me or looks around taking in everything.

I couldnt get over my excitement when Tanner smiled for the first time. He must love his Daddy. Steve was playing Patty Cake with him and he just started smiling and giggling.

Birth Story 10/08/06

Tanner was born on 10/7/06 at 4:45 pm. He weighed 7lbs 2.3 oz and was 21 inches long.

Cephalopelvic Disproportion- My diagnosis

They started me on pitocin around 9 am and the contractions started right away. I was still at 4 cm up until the doctor broke my water. Immediatley the contractions were unbearable I got Stadol but it didnt help so I asked for the epidural. By the time I got my epidural I went from 4 to 7 cm in a half hour. The epidural never took away the pain. The anesthesiologist (sp) said I was progressing too fast for the epidural to work completely. 30 min later I started pushing. Still no relief from the pain. I pushed for another half hour and the doctor came in and figured out that Tanner was facing the wrong way. I pushed for a total of 3 hours in every position I could think of. Because the epidural didnt work, I could move around but it was HELL!

Finally Steve yelled for the doctor and he said we couldnt get the baby low enough for forceps or a vacuum. I begged them to turn off the pitocin and give me more pain medication but they couldnt stop the contractions and never did up my epidural again. Finally they gave me a spinal and did the c-section.

The doctor said not only was Tanner facing the wrong way but there was no way he could fit through my pelvis, and that we wasted 3 hours of pushing. I didnt get far enough along for any tears or cuts. But I had pushed so long that everything down there is swollen and just ridiculous.

I couldnt eat for 36 hours and I just had my very first all clear liquid breakfast. Tanner is fine but a little stopped up. I couldnt move enough to even try breastfeeding so hes a bottle fed baby. But hes doing fine with it.
